Meet the Teacher

Hi Friends! My name is Marie, and I am the teacher of "Once Upon a Classroom: A Teacher's Tales." I truly appreciate you coming to my blog, and I hope you leave feeling inspired!

As children are my passion, teaching naturally became my dream job! I am in my fourth year of teaching- I taught 3rd grade my first two years of teaching. I moved schools, and now I am in my second year teaching second grade. I have loved my experiences with all ages, but I especially love the 1st-3rd grade age. I studied elementary education at Butler University with specializations in reading instruction and special education. I have enjoyed tutoring out of a classroom in my home for many years. I have tutored children ages pre-school-8th grade and adults with special needs. I also have experience teaching gifted courses for K, 1st, and 2nd grades with Northwestern University.

I love the Lord! He guides my life and is the reason for who I am and all that I do. He is my source of strength and peace. "Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light to my path" Psalm 119:105.

I got married to the love of my life, Brian, this past June 2014. We dated for many years before we got married, but we have been loving settling into our lives as a married couple. He adds so much joy to my life, and we love adventures together. We are on the older end of our families, so we love spending time with our siblings!

Although it's hard to find any spare time, I love home-decorating (on the cheap). I love changing small elements of our little place each season. It makes me happy! I'm also a big country music fan.

Thanks for taking a minute to get to know more about me! I love connecting with other teacher bloggers, so please do not hesitate to contact me! :)
