Hopes and Dreams...

A part of the Responsive Classroom is developing class rules together and students creating hopes and dreams. I have never implemented this program, but from what I have read and learned, it is extremely valuable. Throughout the first 7 days of school, my students will be reflecting upon last year and what they hope or dream for this year. I will model this and work through a series of brainstorming and discussion activities with the students. When they are done creating these, we read and think about each child's individual hopes and dreams. Furthermore, we will develop classroom rules that will help them achieve these. I'm sure the next 7 days of this will be rocky for me, since I'm new. However, I'm extremely excited to see how this goes.

What are your hopes and dreams for this school year?
