Tell All Tuesday

Hi Everyone! I'm linking up with my dear friends Jayme and Diana for their Tell All Tuesday Linky! This week we were asked about our Teacher Bucket List!

As I sit here and think about the future, I am feeling so unplanned, I almost didn't participate in the linky. Here's the thing, I am the LAST person you would ever think wouldn't have a plan ready for something like this. My plan was always to teach a few years and then go get my masters to be a reading specialist. I still consider that as an option! Right now, my husband and I are living off my non-master degree 4th year teacher salary, so I am not going to start a masters just yet! I always think it might be down the road anyway if I end up staying home with babies, teaching at my child's preschool, or homeschooling at any point. I'm really not sure! I'm telling myself it's okay to live and figure it out as I go a bit!

In the short term, something I would like to do is work with more undergrad or high school students interested in becoming teachers. I had a practicum student this year, and it was so rewarding to watch her learn, grow, and be loved in my classroom. That was such a magical time for me - forming those sweet bonds with students for the first time and experiencing the joy of helping a child learn. I dreamed and dreamed about creating fun learning experiences and having a classroom, so I want to give other young aspiring educators a home and the mentorship they need to fall in love with the profession.

I have a such a passion for social-emotional learning and would love to become an expert. I think the stronger we are in social-emotional skills/teaching abilities, the more meaningful we are able to make learning experiences for our students. I love to help students grow in their character and love finding genius ideas on Pinterest/Blogs that enrich my classroom community. I also am working on the SEL committee for my District. Plus, I think the more I learn with character education/behavior, the better mom I will someday be!

Finally, I am definitely still finding my way in the blogging/tpt creating world! I hope to make lots of great connections and create tools/content that helps other teachers. I think this whole blog/tpt world fuels our passions, increases our collaboration, and ultimately raises the level of teaching/learning!!!

Thanks for getting to know more about me! Head back to the linky to find out what more about other teachers!

  1. I don't think we really have to know where we are going. It's ok to enjoy the journey and figure it out along the way. Great post. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I think it's great that you're still trying to figure out where life will take you! It's definitely a journey, just make sure that you're in the driver's seat for the adventure! I love all of your goals, and I'm totally with you on the importance of social/emotional learning and teaching! It's one of the main aspects of our kindergarten program in my district, and it is such a super important skill for the kinders to have!!! Thank you for sharing your goals with us, I wish you lots of luck in obtaining them!!

  3. I love your post Marie! I feel like my dreams and "five year plan," changes every day and no one truly knows where they will be in the next few years. It's fun to dream and have a bucket list but I have no idea whether mine will stay the same or change. I think your bucket list is great and definitely attainable! Having quality mentors for aspiring teachers is so important and I think that's an admirable goal to have in your career! Thank you so much for linking up! I can't wait to read more of your posts.

  4. Marie, I enjoyed your bucket list. We have a lot of similarities. I love the idea of mentoring college students. I think there is so much unknown when first start out, it would be great to be there for advice. Thanks for taking the time to link up with us! :)

  5. Marie, what a great list! I, too, find great value in social-emotional learning! I have my B.A. in Child Development, and I find myself analyzing and encouraging students to be the best person they can be based on the studies I followed. It would be cool to use that in a more concrete way! Thanks for sharing!
